Our Story
Founder Andrew Wilson first conceived of setting up a Distillery, whilst undertaking military drills out on Salisbury Plain.
A young officer in the Army, he was put through his paces on the Wiltshire chalklands. Whilst the work was often exhausting, the beauty of the land was exhilarating – vast chalk plateaus, rich wildlife and rolling views across the barley fields.
Surrounded by nature, sometimes literally tasting the earth, a deep connection with the local area was born – and a dream about one day using the best local produce to create extraordinary whisky (and some rum and gin too!).
The intervening years saw Andrew travel far and wide with the Army (Afghanistan, Iraq, Northern Ireland, Germany) and latterly, when he left the army, Aberdeenshire. However, when the opportunity arose to move back to Wiltshire he jumped at the chance.
Now back in Wiltshire for the last four years and again inspired by the spectacular chalk grasslands and with the dream of creating great spirits with Wiltshire produce undiminished, he set about making it a reality.
Today that journey continues – with Andrew and his team, passionate about lifting Wiltshire inspired ingredients to a higher plain, for all to enjoy.
